It is a Grand American Handicap at Pigeons competitors badge from DuPont from either 1898 or 1899 or 1900 or 1901 or 1902.... 1898 was the first year the shoot exceeded 160 gunners (that's the number on the badge). Looking further into my archives I found a photo of Tom Marshall (1897 and 1899 winner) and he is wearing this same kind of badge. I was stunned that I was able to document the above information. I was also able to document who C.E. Rice was, as well as the Masonic building in Chicago. Rice was a DuPont agent with his headquarters in the 20 story Masonic Building. Rice was also heavily involved in promoting trapshooting for DuPont. He became unhappy with DuPont in the early 1900's and most likely was no longer an agent for them much after that date.
